Are you recruiting? Are you in the market for a new job? Just curious
about what jobs are available out there? Attending the IUG Conference
in San Jose this April? The IUG Job Placement Service is for you. Here’s
how it works:
1. Send your job announcements in electronic format (PDF or Word) to Liz Nichols at lnichols@icpl.org. Unless you indicate otherwise, we will assume that positions may be posted on the IUG 2003 Job Placement web page prior to the IUG conference.
Deadline to assure inclusion: April 15, 2003
You may send the announcement between April 16 and April 22 at the above, but we do not guarantee materials will be included if sent during this period. You may also bring the announcement to the IUG Conference and add it to the appropriate job vacancy binder onsite.
It will be helpful to potential applicants to know if you are interviewing at the IUG Conference. We will include any name/hotel information you provide with your job announcement. If possible, bring extra copies of the announcement that can be picked up by interested job seekers. This will ensure that a copy remains in the placement notebooks.
2. Three Job Vacancy binders, divided by Public Services, Technical Services, and Systems jobs, will be available on a table near the registration deak at the IUG Conference.
3. If you are recruiting at the conference, you may sign up for interview times in the Terrace Room during the available hours, or you may arrange to meet prospective candidates at a location and time of your choice. Available hours are:
Terrace Room, Fairmont Hotel
Hours: Saturday 12-5:30 pm
Sunday 9-11:30 am and 1:30-5:30 pm
Monday 8am-3:30pm
4. Sign up sheets will be available near the binders containing the job announcements.
5. Job notices that sent in PDF format will be posted on the IUG website.
1. Check this page before the meeting to read job announcements.
2. Bring copies of your resume or vita to the conference.
3. In San Jose, check the 3 notebooks filled with Systems, Public Services or Technical Services job openings on a regular basis. They will be available on a table near the registration desk during the conference.
4. Check the signup sheet near the registration area to see if the job you are interested in has a recruiter signed up to interview. Sign up for a time slot if you so wish. Interviews take place in the Terrace Room, or another mutually determined location.
5. Contact the recruiter directly if they are at IUG, or follow other instructions for making application.
6. Please do not remove the original job notice from a binder. Check in the folder labeled “Job Announcement Extra Copies.” You may take any extras of interest to you.
7. Check the IUG Website. Some of the listings may be posted there for a brief time following the IUG Conference.
Because this process is informal and we will not have the area staffed, there is the potential that a library may check the sign-up sheets AFTER the scheduled appointment time. With the contact information provided, we hope that it will still be possible for those who are interested in talking to one another to get together.
There is also the option of sending a cover letter and resume to the
contact person listed on the job description in which you're interested.
