For those of you using the wildcard certificate with WAM, do you have a list of databases that don't recognize the wildcard certificate for secure sites?

I would like to know which databases don't work with the new system.

Thank you in advance.

Regards and Happy New Year

Hi Doug –

We just went to the wam_sslhost_replace version before the winter break and so far so good. Prior to switching we reviewed our catalog, our ejournal portal,
our LibGuides and LibAnswers, and website and got rid of all proxied https links and tested to make sure that the http links redirected correctly to https.

Only two services that we are having trouble with:

PolicyMap – menus don’t load with proxied URL. Our ticket is 502973 and I believe U San Francisco first reported this.

New Sage website – main content loads okay but links to “more information” at other domains are direct links to https domains and these do not work. Our ticket
is #503804. I think Hillsdale has also reported this.

Others have reported that RefWorks does not work but we never proxy our RefWorks links – just rely on the group code for off-campus access.

So far Scifinder has been fine but I haven’t tested the structure drawing tool or anything fancy off-campus.

Valueline seems fine.

Hope that helps!

Beth, I'm seeing that issue with the non-journal content on the Sage journals platform (e.g., About > More Information). I get the error below in Chrome. Did you ever resolve this?

Proxy Error

The proxy server received an invalid response from an upstream server.
The proxy server could not handle the request GET /journals/Journal202126/title.

Reason: Error reading from remote server
I have a question about SciFinder. Are users still required to first register with the service on-campus?

Factiva and Refworks don't work. We've added Factiva as a SAN to get round that until the problem is fixed.

We also have problems with British Standards Online though it's not clear that this is specifically related to the wildcard cert.
Comment
I second Factiva. We reported it to III and they have sent that to engineering.

Hi Doug and all –

Just an update from our site. PolicyMap is now fixed (yay – thanks to Bonnie Knight and the folks at PolicyMap) with the new proxy method.

But we discovered today that journals from the ACSESS platform (Agronomy Society, Crop Science Society, and Soil Science Society, etc. at dl.sciencesocieties.org)
are not successfully redirecting from http to https. Therefore, I think we are going to have to go into the URLs for each of these titles and change dl.sciencesocieties.org to dl-sciencesocieties-org.

I would volunteer to start a public list of these problem sites somewhere but secretly am hoping that they are few and far between! So far my scorecard says:

Factiva

SciFinder (some sites reporting problems)

Sage journals (just some problems with some external content, not the core journal content)

And now ACSESS
