Hi All,

I've got a new PC with Win 10.

In the SDA the Korean characters are now displaying as boxes, while other non-Roman scripts are ok. The Unicode codes are present and correct.

I've reinstalled the SDA, checked the fontconfig file is present on the PC and I've download the Windows language packs to no avail.

We used to have this sort of issue with Millennium yonks ago but no one has reported it recently.

Anyone got any helpful hints?

Hi Bruce, here is a snippet of response from Beth Hoffman at Innovative when I asked about this issue:

Arial Unicode MS is the default font used by the Sierra Desktop. I tested by removing Arial Unicode MS from the fonts directory on my PC and I see the boxes instead of the letters with dot below.

The best solution would be if you have any PC's running earlier versions of Windows, e.g., Windows 7, that still have the font. The file name is ARIALUNI.TTF. It is found in the folder Control Panel\Appearance and Personalization\Fonts. You can copy that file to the PC's running Windows 10. Here is a link to the list of Microsoft products that include the font:

You can also find a source for alternative fonts. Here is more information: http://marcedit.reeset.net/replacement-unicode-fonts
