The University of Arkansas at Little Rock is looking for a dynamic and driven individual to fill this new position. The Data Services Librarian will shape a data services program within an evolving academic library environment. This position specializes in the production, archiving, cataloging, documenting, provision, and assistance in the proper use of quantitative and qualitative information gathered through systematic methods. Reporting to the Discovery and Metadata Coordinator, this position holds a faculty appointment with rank leading to tenure. This position is governed by state and federal laws, and agency/institution policy.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Aggregate and manage library data for annual statistical reporting requirements;
Work with the Metadata Systems Manager to ensure a high level of data quality and to implement data integrity strategies for the library’s discovery services;
Utilize a variety of data sources and functionality (APIs, COUNTER, Google Analytics) to develop and maintain web-based dashboards, to demonstrate visualizations of innovative data analytics;
Lead data collection, assessment and analytics activities for the library for strategic planning in alignment with the university’s priorities;
Document library’s use of SUSHI-based retrieval of COUNTER reports, API functionalities with PHP, and harvesting and sharing data formats like XML, JSON, and Python;
Collaborate with librarians and other university departments to identify research data services needs on campus;
Build partnerships within the library, with the Center for Arkansas History and Culture and the Sequoyah National Research Center, and throughout the university to provide a library-based infrastructure of research data tools and services;
Lead the library’s data services, including the discovery, use, and management of locally created and externally available statistical data;
Engage in scholarly, professional and service activities in accordance with institutional and faculty governance documents;
Performs other duties as assigned.
