If you subscribe to Rolling Stone magazine and use Sierra Serials checkin cards, could you please contact me? We're having a problem extrapolating new cards regarding issue numbers. I'm not very familiar with the serials module, and I'd love to chat with someone about how to remedy this problem--and I'd love to know how you do it! :)

I just finished cleaning up and extrapolating our serials cards to prepare for renewal in the fall. Rolling Stone was problematic for me also. According to my notes, Rolling Stone switched frequency in mid May from semimonthly to monthly. With the number of issues received dropping from 24 a year to 12. Extrapolation, in my experience, works best when you have a complete year to extrapolate from, highlighting, as a group, backwards from the last issue received to the one before the same box the previous year. This won't work with a mid-year frequency change. My solution for this year was to create empty boxes to fill as they come in until I have a complete year. This isn't a great solution obviously. Hopefully you found one that works better :D

When it comes to Serials in Sierra, decide what your time is worth. Since we are a multi-branch public library and don't keep issues beyond the current year I tend to drop anything that Sierra doesn't handle well.

I am afraid this doesn't sound very helpful, but let me know if you have further questions. :)
