Ride Shares and Cabs
Ride-share services like Uber and Lyft operate in Minneapolis. You can also call cab services, but it is almost impossible to hail a cab on the street in the Twin Cities.
The Skyway of Downtown Minneapolis
The Skyway is a system of enclosed pedestrian bridges connecting buildings in downtown. They will get you where you need to go while keeping you out of the weather and street traffic, but can also make it difficult to tell where you are.
A local designer made this map of the skyway system to make things easier to navigate (it is mostly accurate, but was produced a couple of years ago so some building names and connections may not be 100% up-to-date).
Read more about the Skyway in the official guide (and to really get into it, read about the love/hate relationship we have with the Skyway, the story behind the map, and the need for better signage in the system).
Average high: 58 F
Average low: 36 F
However, literally anything can happen in Minnesota in April, weather-wise. It could be 80 degrees or there could be 18 inches of snow, possibly in the same week. Stay tuned to your favorite weather apps and websites and plan accordingly.

Things to Do
Read about downtown Minneapolis and find things to do, places to eat and drink, information on getting around, and more!
If it's nice, take a walk downtown to the Mississippi River. The Stone Arch Bridge is a great vantage point, and a worthy destination all it owns. The view from the Hennepin Avenue Bridge will also present you with a view of the historic Grain Belt Beer sign.
Mary Tyler Moore statue
She could turn the world on with her smile... she could take a nothing day and suddenly make it all seem worthwhile... Find the statue honoring Mary Tyler Moore at the site where she threw her hat into the air in the opening credits of The Mary Tyler Moore Show.
Walker Art Center
Contemporary art museum on the periphery of downtown Minneapolis. If you visit, be sure to check out the outdoor sculpture garden. Take a cab or ride-share from the hotel. It's a bit of a hike, but you could walk there from the hotel, passing through Loring Park and over the iconic Irene Hixon Whitney Bridge.
Minneapolis Institute of Art
Enjoy free admission to the collections of this great museum. The museum is a short distance from the conference hotel, but you will probably want to use a ride-share service or take a cab or bus (routes 17 and 18 are good bets) to get there.
Catch a show or stop by for a dance night at the nightclub made famous by Prince in Purple Rain and epicenter of the Minneapolis music scene. Located at 1st Avenue and 7th Street North, walking distance (or a quick taxi ride) from the conference hotel.
You will need to drive, ride-share, or hire a cab to get there, but any fans of Prince will want to see his private estate and production complex in Chanhassen.
Minneapolis' twin city to the east. Not as glamorous, but home to the State Capitol and many great restaurants, craft breweries, and more. The Green Line light rail will take you from downtown Minneapolis to downtown Saint Paul. For other destinations, you will want to use a ride-share service or call a cab (it is almost impossible to hail a cab on the street in the Twin Cities).
