I finally implemented a version of Adam Brin's SMS code. I tried
Katrina Piechnik's code first. I got the pop-up "message sent" but
the message didn't come through, so I decided to try Joshua Kiela's
php. Now I don't even get "message sent" - nothing happens when I
click on the "Send" button. The "Clear" button works fine.
I followed the instructions and made the necessary changes to all
the files and then uploaded them. Sms.php went on a php server and
I have the correct url to it.
I'm playing with the staging server: http://libsys.ewu.edu:2082/
The new design is as out of the box as possible. It still needs
some tweaking but didn't take nearly as many hours as the previous
design. (We're implementing World Cat Local and plan on making it
our primary catalog. I think the Millennium catalog will still get
a lot of use.)
Any suggestions on how I can get this working?
The behavior I see suggests that the process is failing in the PHP
script. (If you want to send me a copy off-list I'll give it a once
over.) But before looking at the script itself, have you confirmed
with whomever administers the server on which the script lives that
everything that needs to be in place is in place? For example, is
curl enabled, does the server allow unauthenticated sending of email
via a script, etc.?
