Thank you to all who replied I now have the information that I was looking for. In addition to the info. below, Donna Campbell at the Westminster Theological Seminary Library found further information about ISBN pick and Edifact in the manual at page # 103173.

When we setup ISBN PICK almost 2 years ago (Release 2005 at the time), we had III setup a specific order record field (in our case its "c" for ISBN PICK). This is typically populated (as mentioned by Doug below) by our TS3 loader when we QuickClick orders into the system. The system automatically uses that ISBN PICK info in the edifact order.
See http://csdirect.iii.com/manual_2006/rmil_records_varfld_types_order.html
FYI:
The Release notes for 2006 rev 1 seem to indicate that the IBSN PICK field has been renamed to "PO INFO"
http://csdirect.iii.com/manual/w_enhance_2006_rev1_igr.html
It works really well for us and is needed for much of our ordering.
Hope this helps

Amy,

I imagine you'll probably get some different answers to your question,
depending on local workflow. For us, it was easiest just to map an isbn
into the PO INFO field of order records which are automatically created
in our local system as we download brief bibs (+ grid info) from our
primary vendor - Baker & Taylor.

We rarely create order records in Millennium manually and therefore
don't often use the isbn pick feature, as it's described in the manual.
However, we still need to make sure the correct isbn ends up in the PO
INFO field of order records sent to our vendor via edifact. So, this
works out pretty well. Our general workflow looks something like this:

1. Selectors build 'carts' of items using Baker & Taylor's
TitleSource.

2. Our acquisitions person downloads those carts into Millennium. We
have a load profile just for this which accepts bibs ('match and attach'
function in effect) and automatically creates attached order records.
These order records have the isbn from TitleSource mapped directly into
the PO INFO field (something we set up using TitleSource's MARC download
profiles).

3. The order records automatically queue in the 'Send' mode.

4. The order records are sent to Baker & Taylor via edifact with what
we know to be the correct isbn.

Hope this is helpful.

Hello all,

I have a question for those of you who use ISBN Pick in the
Acquisitions
module.
How does ISBN Pick work with Edifact, if, as described in the Manual at

page 102819, the ISBN comes from the bib record? With ISBN Pick, it
must
come from the order record, no? I couldn't find any information on ISBN

Pick and Edifact in the Manual, but could have missed it.

From Page # 102819

*Bibliographic record: Fields Sent to EDIFACT Vendor*

*Field and Tag*

*Maximum characters*

ISBN (i)13

From Page # 105892: If the bibliographic record to which you are
attaching the order record contains more than one ISBN, you can select

one of the ISBN fields and insert it into the order record.

1. When prompted to insert a non-MARC field, or when you choose
Insert on the toolbar, select the PO INFO
<http://library.minlib.net/manual/rmil_records_varfld_types_order.html#ISBN%20PICK>
field from the drop-down list.
2. In the Pick ISBN dialog, select one of the ISBNs from the
drop-down list.
3. Choose OK and the ISBN will be inserted into the order record.

Thanks,
Amy Hart
