Re: [IUG] Dedicated Catalog PCs

Hi Dan,

We are using Windows XP (w/ latest service pack) along with Active
Directory to limit access to most of the computer. We use Public Web
Browser with the URL.txt file which limits access only to our wtcpl.org
domain. Public web Browser is also configured to only allow certain
buttons like home, forward and back. It is also set to run full screen
with no maximize, minimize or close buttons. We use a free program
called AutoRestart also from TeamSoftware Solutions which monitors
Public Web Browser to see if it has locked up or closed somehow. If it
has crashed or closed, AutoRestart starts Public Web Browser back up.
Our OPACS are locked in a cabinet to prevent patrons from plugging
anything in or running any software.

Feel free to contact me off list if you have any questions about our
setup.

Hi Dan,
We're using Windows XP (latest service pack) locked down with Window's
policies along with Public Web Browser (ver 3.0 I think). We've had this
setup running for several years now with very few problems.

Feel free to contact me off-list if you have follow-up questions.
Bill
