My place hold button is only showing up in My Lists if the patron
already has a hold on something. Guess I'm checking the OPAC options.

Thanks for the heads up!

We have the place hold button and the add to cart button appearing for
all items that are requestable. For items that are not requestable, the
button is suppressed. (That's a setting in the OPAC options in the
text-based system). Under normal circumstances I have it under the add
to cart button in briefcit.html, and at the top of the page in
bibdisplay.html.

Genesis and others who are testing or using My Lists:

Are you having the Request / Place Hold icon showing up next to each
item on your list? Or do patrons need to go to the book cart to place a
hold?

I'm having trouble getting the Request button to consistently show up in
the lists themselves.

Thanks,
Amy

I've had a couple of requests for my settings for the My Lists feature,
so here you go:

WWWOptions:

MY_LISTS = t

ICON_MYLISTS_SAVE_TO_LIST = <img src="/screens/save_to_list_slim_2.gif"
style="display:none"

ICON_BOOKCART = <img src="/screens/add_cart_2.gif" alt="Add to Book
Cart" class="button" border="0" />

If you make ICON_BOOKCART inactive, then the <!--{mark}--> token on
briefcit.html will show as a checkbox. If ICON_BOOKCART is activated, it
shows at the "add to bookcart" button.

We chose not to display ICON_MYLISTS_SAVE_TO_LIST because it seemed
confusing. Now we just have the "save selected" button on our title and
author search pages. We're using the book cart for exporting, placing
multiple holds, and saving to lists.

HTML:

Here's the code for my briefcit.html page, which shows where the
different buttons are located:

<!-- Rel 2007 "Skyline" Example Set -->
<!-- This File Last Changed: 24 July 2008 -->
<tr>
<td class="briefCitRow">
<table width="100%" border="0" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0">
<tr valign="top">

<div class="briefcitEntryNum">

<br />
</div>
<!--{rating}-->
<!--{bookjacket}-->
</td>
<td align="left" class="briefcitDetail">

</span>
<br />
<!--{fieldspec:Vba}-->
<br />
<!--{fieldspec:Vbp}-->
<!--
<div>

</div>
-->
<br/>
<span class="briefcitStatus">

</span>
<!--

<!--{xif}-->
<!--{962link}-->
<!--{ifmulti962}-->

<!--{more962}-->
<!--{xif}-->
</div>
-->
<div class="briefcitItems">

</div>
</td>
<td align="center" width="5%">
<div class="briefcitMedia">
<!--{media}-->
</div>
<!--{mark}-->
<div class="briefcitRequest">
<!--{request}-->
</div>
</td>
</tr>
</table>
</td>
</tr>

I think that's it (if I come across any other settings I forgot to
include, I'll post them in another email). I did a lot of playing around
to get this feature set up in a way that would work for us, and so far
the customers I've talked to who are using it are happy with it.

We just went live with the My Lists feature. Our testers were confused
by the checkboxes, so I re-enabled the icon_bookcart and deleted the
checkbox from the briefcit.html display. Now you just have to add items
to the book cart before you have the option to save them to My Lists.
Everything seems to be working well, and I haven't had any issues come
up since we went live, but it's only been about a day...

We went live on Millennium on July 9th. We had a My Lists feature on our
old system and didn't think too many people were using it, but when we
went live without that feature on Millennium we got a ton of complaints
from our customers. I guess it was more popular than we realized!

We're on release 2007. Here's a link to our catalog if you want to take
a look:
http://millennium.newport.lib.ca.us/

Incidentally, we also just changed all the buttons (#1 customer
complaint since going live - buttons too hard to read).

Much as I'd like to have My Lists moved to Live, it stays on Staging for

a while. It doesn't seem quite ready for prime time, IMHO.

1. The "check box" is not considered obvious enough as a method of
selecting, especially when it's right next to a "Request" button. Our
staff would prefer My Lists worked with the save_record.gif in
ICON_BOOKCART. Since you have to turn the ICON_BOOKCART off for My
Lists to work, it's not nearly as usable, in our view.

2. Bug: If I disable the ICON_BOOKCART and save something to a list, as
long as I'm still logged into my patron record, the ICON_BOOKCART
graphic (in our case, save_record.gif) appears instead on subsequent
searches and I can't save anything else to the list until I log out.
Then the check box is back on the next search. Go figure.

Has anyone found a way around either of these?
