Re: [IUG] Playaways and Self-Check

Are you looking to have people come to the desk to both check out and
get the cases unlocked for these playaways?
If that is the case then yes having a special status would work.
Whatever it is you call it you have III set it so those items with those
statuses cannot be checked out on the self checks. We do this for
items that say Library Use Only so who can have them in the open stacks
but they won't get checked out. We can override that due to special
circumstances. When the item get checked out the status is a due date.
When it gets checked in it goes back to Library Use Only.

Subject: [IUG] Playaways and Self-Check
We have just started a collection of Playaways. The cases have locks
that need to be opened before the item leaves the building. I was told
by III that the only way that III self-check module could block is on
item status. This will not work. I need to block on itype or some
other field. Status will change back to - on each check in. How can I
let patrons know that this item must be taken to the circulation desk
and cannot be checked out at the self service station?
