We have never had standard patron barcodes. Has not caused us any
problems. Not we also have non standard item barcodes.

We are thinking of moving away from the standard 9 to 14 digit number
for our patron barcodes. If we do that, it would force us to turn off
the check digit option. Can anyone tell me a reason why we would need to
keep the check digit option in place and stay with the 9 to 14 digit
range?
