( reposting, sorry for the idiotic spaces in the original)

Corey and all,

Responding to the list on this one to maybe promote more discussion,
involvment in this process, and etc.

Here's 3 people I'll suggest as nominees:

Bob Duncan
Lafayett College Libraries
Reason: Phenomenal WebBridge assistance/leadership, and general IUG
list as well
Comment: change rule that past winners can't win; maybe just not two
years in a row

Annette Bailey
Virginia Tech Univ. Libs
Reason: LIBX and MAJAX presentations at IUG and free offerings,
http://libx.org <http://libx.org/>

Casey Bisson
Plymouth State College
Reason: pushing Library 2.0 features, and Scriblio at
http://about.scriblio.net/about

Also, I'd like to see other nominations posted to the list because we
here would probably benefit by being reminded of the especially
appreciated contributions and work of other folks we've maybe missed!
For those interested in doing so. Plus, people would get extra praise
and recognition for their good work.

I'd also like to suggest that the IUG consider having all III customers
(instead of the selection committee or IUG officers) choose a winner
from among the Beacon Award nominees. Since we also vote for
enhancements and officers, why not this too? Unless it's too much work?
Here again, past winners could win again, if that's a concensus, as
could also perhaps IUG Steering Cmte members, as they may well deserve.

I think winning and the continued chance of winning might provide
ongoing motivation and recognition for people's *continued*
contributions. Thus, I guess I'm suggesting the emphasis be changed
from "lifetime" contributions to: contributions appreciated by the most
III users in a given past year.

Thanks and just my 2 cents. I really appreciate all of the IUG and how
beneficial it is to us here.

John
