Bill,

One addition to Catherine's comments. At one point OCLC or maybe it was theWAM was choking on the semicolon within the URL. Back then OCLC told us to use the following format for proxied URLs:

http://0-firstsearch.oclc.org.your_catalog_here/FSIP&dbname=ClasePeriodica&done=referer Basically the semicolons were replaced by ampersands. Previously the "FSIP" was also placed farther down the URL string. Now it's right after the first slash.

The "&done=referer" parameter returns the user to your site when they log out of FirstSearch. There are also other parameters that can be added such as "timeout" which will end the user's session after the timeout period just in case they hit the browser back button instead of loging off properly.

Subject: [IUG] WAM and FirstSearch

I now have WAM working for all of our databases - except firstsearch.

Would someone be able to forward to me a sample forward table set up and
url for a firstsearch database? Anything like wilsonselect, eric or
medline would be fine.

I tried using both the old style url creation of firstsearch :
http://firstsearch.oclc.org/dbname=ERIC;FSIP and the new "improved"
http://firstsearch.oclc.org/fsip?dbname=ERIC and I'm striking out with
translating them to the corresponding
http://0-firstsearch.oclc.org.catalog.glensidepld.org/****** style
address.

Other than that, WAM is nice once it is set up J

Cheers,

Bill
