Andrea,
1) Barcode masking - this is an option you can turn on. Basically, it
allows you to enter in the first few digits of the barcode number, if
they are the same across the board. We have this turned on for our
patrons and they really appreciated it (it was one of our biggest
complaints).
2) PIN - when you turn on the PIN feature (it is a service commitment -
but it is free, I believe), you are given the option of how you want to
authenticate: name, barcode; name, barcode, PIN; or barcode, PIN.
Notice that the barcode is still required. Oh, and a fore-warning:
currently, any alphanumeric character can be entered as a PIN. With the
next release, we should be able to limit this to numeric values (at
least, that is what is on the Preliminary Release Notes).
If you have any questions, feel free to ask!

Subject: [IUG] Enabling PIN question
I am curious about patron pins so that patrons do not need to enter the
entire barcode each time they log in. Is the pin number feature free or
a separate item that needs to be purchased? Also is anyone currently
pre populating the barcode entry field with a partial barcode for
patrons to log in? Is this something that patrons like?
Any advice is appreciated.
