Hi all,

We have a question for those using email alerts for Preferred Searches. We'd
like to implement this but have some questions about doing this in a scoped
environment. We have two libraries sharing the system but we do not share
bibliographic records, item records, patron records, order records, etc. We
also do not share collections - cardholders in one system must get a card
from the other system in order to access their collections.

When a customer saves a search in preferred searches, it appears that (most
of the time), the search is saved in the correct scope. We'd like to have an
email sent when an order record is generated since we allow holds to be
placed on order records. But, because we do not share collections, we would
like the preferred search notification to recognize the scopes we've set up.

Does anyone know how this works in a scoped catalogue? For example, if
someone saves a favourite author in a preferred search (in the scope of one
library) and the other library places an order for a new work by that author,
does the customer get notification - even though they're not a member of that
library and they chose the author in the other scope? Does the system just
get triggered by the addition of any order record (if the preferred search
email is triggered by the order creation date) that matches a preferred
search criteria. Or will the system respect the scoped search?

We've gone over the manual but can't seem to find any information about
scoped catalogues and preferred searches ... so any further information would
be appreciated.

Thanks.
