The Sacramento Public Library has an opening for an AUTOMATION LIBRARIAN
III.
Monthly Salary: $3,084.07 - $4,784.40 - OPEN: until filled
The Sacramento Public Library invites qualified candidates to apply for
our Automation Librarian III opening. The Automation Librarian III
performs a variety of duties for the Library's Information Technology
(IT) Department. The Automation Librarian III acts as the primary
Library liaison between the Library and Innovative Interfaces Inc. for
the Integrated Library System (ILS) and between outside libraries
participating in the ILS and the Sacramento Public Library. The
Automation LIII analyzes ILS software modules and upgrades, and develops
strategies and procedures for deploying them in the library. The
Automation LIII supervises staff that is responsible for the day-to-day
management of the ILS system.
The successful candidate must possess: a strong commitment to internal
and external customer service models; knowledge of basic principles and
practices of public library services and library materials selection;
skill in the use of computers, computer applications, and Microsoft
Office; understanding of general issues related to the implementation
and use of ILS system modules; the ability to collaboratively develop
training in ILS system modules and ILS documentation (e.g., Circulation
Manual); strong oral and written communication skills; and a high degree
of initiative, integrity, and sound judgment. Previous experience with
Innovative Interfaces Inc. and their Millennium product modules is
highly desirable.

branch libraries. More than 580,000 Sacramento-area residents have a
library card.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Master's degree in librarianship from an accredited college
or university.
Experience: Three years of experience as a professional librarian,
preferably in the area of specialization, including one year in
supervisory capacity, or two years experience as a Librarian II in the
Sacramento Public Library, preferably in the area of specialization.
SELECTION PROCESS:
The selection process will consist of oral interviews, and/or a
supplemental questionnaire. The application process is also part of the
testing process.
The most highly qualified candidates will be asked to attend an oral
interview. The examination process may include, but is not limited to,
the essential knowledge and abilities listed. Video teleconferencing
may be available for candidates from long distances.
