Re: Statistics for Z39.50 saves/captures

I hope that if this is a bad idea, someone else on the list will point that out.

There is a bib record template (default bib record) associated with your z39.50 interface, so that default values entered in the template will automatically be included in all bib records captured through z39.50. You can enter something in your template to let you search for z39.50 bibs, and you can use the "created" date to find the bibs captured in a given month.

There are 2 problems with this that I can think of:

1) Make sure the bib record template associated with the z39.50 interface is not also used for some other load table.
2) Decide what to put in the bib record template to let you search for z39.50 bibs. Using BCODE3 probably isn't a good idea, since that is also the code used to suppress bibs (at least it is at my library). With Millennium Silver, you are supposed to be able to put text in variable fields of record templates, but I haven't tried that yet. Also, the text will show up in the OPAC, unless you can figure out some way to suppress it.

Subject: Statistics for Z39.50 saves/captures

I'm going to be one of those posters who begs forgiveness if this is an ignorant question:

How/can one get statistics of how many z39.50 records have been captured, either total, or by login, by month?

I looked in the manual but did not find anything there.

I appreciate your help,
