Try contacting Innovative. They'll sell you their Percon barcode readers at $3000 a pop. There's also the possibility of using a PDA instead of a barcode reader, but that hasn't been perfected as of yet (lots of file manipulation involved, especially since III software doesn't run on PDA's).
