That's an interesting method, but only 300 items scanned in a morning? With the B321 I was able to scan about 1500 items in the space of two hours... I'm not trying to be critical, just comparing the time and money expenditures of purchasing a B321 versus a laptop... Seems like the extra staff time required to scan items may outweigh the benefits of saving money from not buying the readers, at least for a largish collection (half-million or more items?).

I, too, have been looking at B321 alternatives, such as using a PDA with a scanner, so like everyone else, I'd be interested in hearing about anything that works, but works quickly.

Hi All,

We have just started an inventory just like this.

We have a barcode reader on a Laptop w/ wireless network.

Barcode is scanned.
Then we use a barcode text macro (or a series of commands on the PC clipboard)
that places a code in the ICODE2 = i and inserts a x NOTE = Inventory 6/03.

Once a range is scanned we can create various lists to reconcile.
About 300 items can be scanned in a morning.

When we are completely done we will remove the ICODE2, but we will keep the x
NOTE.

It is working very well for us so far.

Please call or email if you would like specific information, such as the Create
List parameters.

Good Luck
