Moira,

I haven't seen many responses to your query, so I'll stick in my 2 cents.

We use yet another option, which is to set the WWWOPTION to 
showorec=no_rdate and the OPAC option Display order record ...  until received.

This means that until there's an rdate in the order record, the order 
record is displayed. The beauty of this is that it gets around the whole 
CATDATE issue, which was also a problem for us.
