Karen - I saw your posting and wanted to ask you a question - when your system crashed did you have to somehow reload all your bib etc. records? One person a III told me that the back up does not contain the records - just wondering if you knew anythng about that.

Is Lakme home?

Unfortunately we found ourselves in the position where we had to reload
from tape some partial data loss as well as reload the entire database
after system crashes. The good news is that in both incidents restoration
of data from backup tapes worked. The most recent event for us was August
10, the day before I left for vacation. We were actually down the previous
afternoon and the morning of the 10th along with prior episodes of
instability. Hardware replacement (procurement, delivery, installation)
took longer than restoring the data, but the time depends on the size of
your database.
