- Subject: Re: Encumbrances in fund displays
We noticed this last July after our fiscal close. Several (but not all)
funds showed a discrepancy. The encumbrance carried over was not the same
as the total of estimated prices for a given fund. I opened a call with
Innovative, but this was not satisfactorily resolved. One of our
librarians posted a query to the Innopac listserv (see
http://www.innopacusers.org/listserv/archives/1999/msg02535.html). I'm
not sure she had any responses on the list, but someone who responded to
her directly noted that they have this problem too. They resolve it by
manually doing fund adjustments on the encumbrances every year after
fiscal close.
We looked at various possibilities for why this might be happening, but
could not find an answer. If anyone has an explanation, we'd love to hear
it.
