FAQ

Ask a Question

Directory of Innovative Libraries

Q. How can I find other libraries that use a specific module or product?

A.

This information is currently unavailable on the Web site.  The IUG is planning to enhance its Membership Directory to include this information.  In the meantime, the best way to locate other libraries using a specific module or product is to contact your Innovative sales representative.

Q. How do I access the Directory of Innovative Libraries?

A.

The IUG's membership directory is located here.

You can also locate listings of libraries that use Millennium (or INNOPAC or INNOVACQ) in lib-web-cats, a searchable list maintained by Marshall Breeding at Vanderbilt University, that will link you to library or library catalog sites.

Q. How do I update my information in the Directory of Innovative Libraries?

A.

If you are your institution's site contact and know your institutional IUG login, you can make changes yourself.  Send a message to the IUG membership team if you don't know your login and password.

General Information

Q. Do I use the same passwords to access the IUG enhancement list and Innovative's CSDirect?

A.

No. Only IUG member libraries are allowed access to the enhancement list.  If you know your institution's IUG membership number and ZIP code, you can create your own MyIUG login to view or submit enhancements.

CSDirect is a service of Innovative Interfaces.  Your Innovative site coordinator can provide the information.

Q. How can I find answers to my INNOPAC/Millennium questions?

A.

The first place to start is the Innovative User Manual. It is available locally on all Innovative/Millennium systems and on CSDirect. A very helpful "Introduction to Web-based Documentation" section is included to help you find your way through the manual.

  • Check CSDirect (http://csdirect.iii.com) for updated manual information, news releases, and tutorials. If you suspect a bug in a program, check the "Known issues" section. Site coordinators can open calls to the Help Desk, check on the status of open calls, and reopen closed calls here. Two levels of access are given to your library's site coordinator. Contact them for further information on accessing and using CSDirect.
  • Call the Help Desk. The Help Desk is staffed with many qualified individuals who are trained to troubleshoot your system. They have detailed information about your system and are trained to solve your problems. You pay a maintenance fee to Innovative for this service.
  • Search the IUG Discussion List Archives. (http://www.innovativeusers.org/iug_listserv_search). A searchable and browseable archive of list postings from the past several years is available from the IUG Web Site. You may find an answer to your question without having to post to the list.
  • Post a question to the IUG Discussion List. (innopac@innovativeusers.org). This is a good place to share ideas with others on how they use their systems and to get feedback on how products and hardware work in the real world.

Q. What resources are available on Innovative's web site?

A.

Innovative offers two web sites. Innovative's main web site (http://www.iii.com) offers general company information. The second web site, CSDirect (http://csdirect.iii.com), includes information for customers such as access to the Help Desk, call tracking tools, known software issues, software updates, and the archive of Innovative's private email messages to customers.

Q. What resources are available on the IUG web site?

A.

The IUG web site is available at http://innovativeusers.org. Here you will find the IUG enhancements list, the INNOPAC email list archives, information about the IUG, and annual conference information including registration forms, hotel and transportation news, program schedules and proceedings.

IUG Discussion List

Q. Are there archives of previous list messages?

A. Yes. An archive of messages posted since 2000 is available on the web site. This archive is searchable by topic, author, or date.

Q. How do I send a message to the Innopac Users' discussion list?

A.

Only subscribed members of the list are allowed to post messages. Send your message to "innopac@innovativeusers.org". Guidelines for posting messages are available for your information.

Q. How do I subscribe to the Innopac Users' discussion list?

A.

Use the automatic web-based form on the web site. Details are available at http://www.innopacusers.org/mailman/listinfo/innopac.

Q. How do I suspend my subscription while on vacation?

A.

You may set your subscription to "nomail" when you know you will be away from your email for any period of time. Follow the instructions on http://www.innopacusers.org/mailman/listinfo/innopac.

Q. How do I unsubscribe from the Innopac Users' discussion list?

A.

You can use the automatic web-based form on the web site. Details are available at http://www.innopacusers.org/mailman/listinfo/innopac.

Q. I haven't received any messages from the list in several days. Did something happen to my subscription?

A.

If your mail server is unavailable when the list tries to send you messages, the messages will bounce back to the list server. In these cases, your address is considered invalid and you will be removed from the list. You will need to resubscribe in order to receive future messages.

Q. What types of options do I have for subscribing to the list?

A.

Options include the standard subscription where all messages are mailed to you separately and the digest version where you receive one message per day. As an alternative, you may use the list archives as a web browser to read the messages by date, author, or thread of topic.

Q. Who can I contact if I'm having problems with my list subscription?

A.

Contact the IUG List Manager.
